In 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated a special week to honor men and women who work daily in America’s jails and prisons. That tradition continues some thirty years later as this coming week, May 4 – 10, 2014, has been designated as National Correctional Officers Week.
In observance of this special week, Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal compliments the many fine officers who work daily in the Washington Parish Jail, the Bogalusa City Jail and Rayburn Correctional Center. “These officers are the unsung heroes of the criminal justice system. Working outside the limelight and with little recognition, they help to make certain that inmates are kept in a safe and constitutional manner that protects all of the law abiding citizens of Washington Parish. I congratulate each of these fine officers for a job well done.”
