Two burglars and their accomplice were arrested April 14 by the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office.
A construction worker who was staying at a motel south of Bogalusa reported that his property had been stolen from his room while he was away. Deputies responded, interviewed the victim and viewed surveillance video from the motel. The investigation led deputies to the room next to the victim's room where they encountered Kayla Leann Burge Myres, 31, a resident of Avenue E in Bogalusa. Myres was in possession of some of the stolen items. She was arrested and booked into the Washington Parish Jail for possession of stolen property.
Further investigation identified two men who were seen on video entering the victim's room. Both suspects were located the following day and arrested for the burglary. David L. Magee, Sr., 39, a resident of Avenue F in Bogalusa, was arrested and jailed for burglary. Also arrested was Isiah Agusta Wasp, 38, a resident of St. Louis Street in Bogalusa. He, too, was jailed on a burglary charge.
Magee has two previous Washington Parish arrests. In July 2016, he was jailed on charges of possession of illegal drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. In March 2018, he was in jail for possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of counterfeit money.
Wasp has three previous stays in the Washington Parish Jail. In September 2007, he was arrested for possession of illegal drugs. In June 2020, he was jailed for possession of illegal drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to appear in court. His third previous arrest was October 2020 for failure to appear in court.
"I'm so pleased our officers were able to make these arrests and recover some of the stolen property," stated Sheriff Randy Seal. "There is no better place for a burglar than the Washington Parish Jail. We always have room for anyone who wants to prey on innocent persons."
