On March 31, Louisiana Attorney Jeff Landry visited the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office  to speak about his drug take back partnership with Sheriff Randy Seal, Franklinton Police Department Chief Justin Brown and Bogalusa Police Department Chief Kendall Bullen.  Attorney General Landry spoke about the opioid epidemic sweeping our state and nation and formally introduced the drug take back box which he has provided for the Sheriff's Office in Franklinton.

The drug take back box is available in the lobby of the Sheriff's Office twenty-four hours per day, year round, for any person to drop off legal or illegal drugs.  The only exceptions are syringes-needles, drug paraphernalia and liquids.  Drugs may be deposited anonymously with no questions asked.

In addition to discussing the opioid epidemic, Attorney General Landry emphasized the drug take back box as an excellent way for citizens to dispose of unused or expired drugs.  Sheriff Seal emphasized that medications should be secure at home as is not unusual for minors to begin their experiment with drugs taking what is available in the home medicine cabinet.  Chief Brown echoed Sheriff's Seal's remarks and spoke of the ongoing battle against illegal drugs being waged by law enforcement agencies throughout the parish.  Chief Bullen was unable to attend due to a last minute conflict.

Sheriff Seal stated, "We are so appreciative of Attorney General Landry's untiring effort to make Louisiana safe for all of our residents.  It was an honor to have him visit our office and we are pleased to place the drug take back box in our lobby for anyone to use any hour of the day or night.  Let us be safe.  Let us be smart.  Let us continue to support our law enforcement officers throughout our state and parish as they pursue those who engage in the illegal drug trade.  What a blessing it is for your Sheriff's Office to have an excellent working partnership with Attorney General Landry and his staff as well as the chiefs and fine officers of both the Franklinton and Bogalusa police departments."
