Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Detective Damon Mitchell was able to make a quick arrest of a Mississippi man for the February 6th burglary of Lakeview Sales on Highway 10 east of Bogalusa.
Darrell Swindle, a resident of Pearl River County, was captured on the store’s video surveillance camera system. Swindle was recently released from prison and is currently on parole in the State of Mississippi.
With the assistance of Detective Corbett Hunt and the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office, Detective Mitchell was able to locate Swindle in Mississippi and arrest him. Swindle is currently being held in the Pearl River County Jail awaiting extradition to Louisiana.
A handgun was stolen in the burglary and has not been recovered. Investigators do have leads on the location of the weapon and hope to recover it in the near future.
Sheriff Randy Seal commented. “The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office is a great ally and is always ready to assist when we have a case that crosses state lines. I appreciate Sheriff Allison and his fine staff. I congratulate Detective Mitchell for a job well done and remind those who want to burglarize parish businesses that cameras may be recording your every move.”
