DEPUTY SHERIFF INVOLVED IN FATAL SHOOTING

On February 17, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a Washington Parish Sheriff's Office deputy fatally shot a twenty-eight year old Caucasian male at a residence on Albert Magee Road in the northwest portion of the parish.

Louisiana State Police detectives were summoned to the scene and are conducting  an investigation into the shooting incident.

"As is proper in such situations, an outside independent law enforcement agency is conducting this investigation," stated Sheriff Randy Seal.  "Any loss of life is always tragic and our deepest sympathy is extended to the family of the deceased.   This unfortunate occurrence is a stark reminder of the danger that law enforcement officers may face at any time they respond to a call for assistance."

For any further information concerning the investigation, please contact Louisiana State Police Public Information Officer Jeremy Price at (985) 839-6250 or jeremy.price@la.gov
