Message From Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal

A winter weather warning has been issued for Washington Parish and surrounding areas for the next two days.    Starting early Tuesday morning, the parish is projected to see a transition from freezing rain to sleet and snow, with ice accumulations of approximately one tenth of an inch.  Snow accumulations are forecast to be 1-4 inches.

Washington Parish deputies will be on duty during the winter storm event.  We will be patrolling parish roads on the lookout for any unusual activity and responding to emergency situations.    If you have an emergency need, you may contact the Sheriff’s Office at (985) 839-3434.  Our dispatchers will be very busy during this event, so please do not call for routine information.  I ask that you leave the telephone lines open for emergencies.

I encourage parish residents to use common sense during the storm event.  Stay off of the roads and be very careful using space heaters and generators.  Practice safety in all that you do.  Try to stay home, stay warm and stay comfortable.  If you have elderly neighbors, please check on them to make sure they are safe during the storm.
