FRANKLINTON AREA MAN ARRESTED FOR FIFTH TIME

FRANKLINTON AREA MAN ARRESTED FOR FIFTH TIME

Alex Magee, 30, a resident of 43650 Wilson Road near Franklinton, was arrested by Washington Parish Sheriff Office detectives on January 25 for  burglary of two businesses north of Franklinton and aggravated assault with a firearm.  Magee was out of jail on bond from another burglary when he committed these crimes.

The business burglaries occurred at two convenience stores.  A business located on Sam Thomas Road in the Hackley community was burglarized in October 2017.  Another business, located on Highway 430, occurred on January 16.  In both burglaries, the businesses suffered significant damage when Magee forced his way inside while they were closed.  He left physical evidence at each scene.  That evidence was processed by detectives, leading to an identification of Magee as the burglar.

The arrest for aggravated assault with a firearm came as a result of a November 2017 shooting complaint on Thomas Cryer Road in the Mt. Hermon community.  In that incident, Magee has been identified as the person who fired numerous shots into an occupied vehicle.

Magee is now in the Washington Parish Jail charged with two counts of burglary of a business, criminal damage, two counts of theft, theft of a firearm and aggravated assault with a firearm.  No bond has been set at this time.

Magee’s first arrest was in 2007 for simple burglary.  His next arrest was in 2012 for criminal trespass and resisting an officer by flight on foot.  The third arrest was in 2014 for failure to appear in court and obstruction of a court order.  November 2017 was the month of his fourth arrest for burglary and theft of an automobile.  He posted a $15,000 bond for his fourth arrest and was still under the conditions of that bond when he was arrested for the fifth time.

Sheriff Randy Seal commented.  “Magee must have some inner desire to serve time in a state prison, because that seems to be where he is headed.  The only time he is not committing a crime is when he is behind bars.  It seems obvious he has no respect for anyone and is too lazy to work and earn an honest dollar.  Good job, detectives!”
