Miranda Keith Collins, 42, a resident of McGowan Road near Angie, was arrested by Sheriff Randy Seal and the Washington Parish Drug Task Force on September 19. Collins was placed in the Washington Parish Jail charged with two counts of Distribution of Schedule II Drugs and one count of Possession With Intent to Distribute Schedule I Drugs. Bond has been set at $500,000.
The arrest of Collins at his residence was the result of a six month investigation by narcotics officers into Collins’ drug activities in Washington Parish. Surveillance indicated that he was selling drugs out of his residence and at other locations. A thorough search of his property by narcotics officers and a canine team from Rayburn Correctional Center turned up marijuana which had been packaged and was ready for distribution.
If convicted of these charges, Collins, a habitual offender, faces many years in the penitentiary.
Sheriff Randy Seal commented, “Let this be a lesson to drug dealers in Washington Parish. We are coming after you and we will eventually get you. If you are selling drugs, you need to be looking all around and even up in the sky, because we are watching you. Don’t get comfortable in Washington Parish, because your day is coming.”
