Dennis Durr, 52, a resident of Lincoln Street in Bogalusa was arrested on October 4 and placed in the Washington Parish Jail charged with Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration.
No bond has been set at this time.
Durr was originally convicted in Jefferson Parish in 1995 for Aggravated Incest and placed on the Sex Offender Registry for a life-time registration which requires him to update his registration every ninety days. Since initially being placed on the Sex Offender Registry, Durr has failed to update his registration as required, causing him to spend several years in the custody of the Louisiana Department of Corrections.
Upon his last release from the Department of Corrections on June 1, 2016, Durr transferred his registration to Washington Parish. He initially appeared before the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Registration deputy on June 2, but has failed to report again as required by state law. A warrant was issued for his arrest and he was taken into custody on October 4.
Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal said, “It is very important for the community to be able to identify the location of known sex offenders. Unfortunately, Mr. Durr has failed to fulfill his obligation to update his registration. I congratulate our sex offender division for being vigilant in monitoring sex offenders registered in Washington Parish.”
