Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal has announced that the Louisiana Sheriffs’ 2016 scholarship program is now accepting applications. The Louisiana Sheriffs’ Scholarship Program will award a scholarship of up to $500 to provide assistance to a worthy Washington Parish graduating high school senior in furthering his or her education and training with resources made available through the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Honorary Membership Program.
There are no restrictions on the purposes for which the scholarship is spent. It is not a loan and will be awarded as a gift to help defray the rising costs of tuition and related expenses in higher education. The only limitations are that applicants be permanent residents of Louisiana, that the scholarship is utilized for higher education in the State of Louisiana, and students are enrolled as full-time undergraduate students. Applicants must be eligible for admission to the school indicated on the application.
Completed applications must be submitted to Sheriff Seal’s office by April 1, 2016. The scholarship winner will be announced by May 1, 2016.
Sheriff Seal stated, “This Scholarship Program is a meaningful expression of the Program’s respect for education and demonstrates our confidence in Louisiana’s youth…our future leaders. I am pleased that the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office can offer this scholarship opportunity to the youth of our parish. The Louisiana Sheriffs’ Honorary Membership Program makes all of this possible and I encourage all parish residents to support the Program.”
