Parish Businessman Arrested For Possession Of Stolen Property

In October, Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives received information from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office that stolen items listed in a St. Tammany burglary were reported to be in Washington Parish.  The investigation led detectives to Danny Chain, 26, a resident of Highway 430.  Chain was arrested and placed in the Washington Parish Jail with his bond set at $20,150.  He made bond and was released from jail a few days later.

The investigation continued after Chain’s arrest, this time focusing on stolen jewelry which was reportedly sold by Chain to a local gold business, Moseley Gold Buy.  Detectives determined that the stolen items had been purchased by the owner of Moseley Gold Buy,  but had not been properly documented and receipted according to Louisiana law.  In addition, the gold had been disposed of without the waiting period required by law.

Items purchased by Moseley Gold Buy included a Rolex watch valued at $10,000, a 14 karat gold chain valued at $20,000, a diamond ring valued at $12,000, and a law school graduation ring valued at $900.  Moseley paid $1,900 for the stolen items.  $200 was paid by check and $1,700 was paid in cash.

Based on the results of the investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Yancie H. Moseley, Jr., 71, a resident of Poplar Hill Road.  Moseley was placed in the Washington Parish Jail on November 20 and released the same day after posting a $7,500 cash bond.

Sheriff Randy Seal stated, “I congratulate our detectives for solving this crime.  Crimes of this nature are not always easy to investigate and our detectives did a great job in developing information which led to the arrest.”
