On November 4, Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested Danny Chain, 26, a resident of Highway 430. Chain was placed in the Washington Parish Jail and remains there with his bond set at $20,150. He is charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Identity Theft, Theft by Fraud, and two counts of theft.
Acting on a request for assistance from St. Tammany Parish detectives about criminal activity there, Washington Parish detectives investigated and determined that Chain likely had committed thefts there and was engaged in other criminal activity in both parishes. Enough evidence was gathered to obtain a search warrant of Chain’s residence. Detectives from both parishes searched Chain’s residence and recovered stolen property, including a stolen firearm that was found hidden in an air-conditioning duct.
The investigation by both agencies continues and it is expected that more charges will be added.
Sheriff Randy Seal commented on the arrest and the working relationship with St. Tammany Parish. “St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Jack Strain is a true friend to the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office. He and his officers work closely with us at any time criminal activity affects both parishes. In this case, the combined efforts of the two agencies took a criminal out of our community and placed him in jail. As I’ve said many times in the past, criminals need to understand that our ability to apprehend them extends far beyond parish lines.”
