Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal has given his full support to Southeast Louisiana Legal Services to obtain a grant to provide legal services to women and children who are victims of domestic or sexual assault. The Sheriff’s Office currently has a staff member devoted to assisting victims. This program will provide an extra layer of legal protection to victims in their quest to break the cycle of abuse and to recover from trauma.
Sheriff Seal stated, “One of the first things I did when I became Sheriff was to establish a victim’s assistance program. This has been a valuable resource to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and other crimes. This new program will bring in legal resources to further assist female victims and their children and protect them from men who abuse and terrorize them.”
Sheriff Seal continued, “I have zero tolerance for men who abuse women and children. I arrest them and put them in jail so they are isolated from their victims. This new program will give victims even more protection through legal advice and representation. I am excited about the possibility of having this legal assistance in Washington Parish and pledge my full cooperation.”
