At approximately 4:15 p.m. the afternoon of June 24, the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office was notified of a possible drowning on the Bogue Chitto River near the Washington Parish community of Isabel, Louisiana on Highway 16.
The drowning victim has been identified as Edmund Emerson Adams, 32, a native of Prairieville, Louisiana, and a current resident of New Orleans. Mr. Adams and a group of friends were tubing on the Bogue Chitto River when, according to others who were present, Mr. Adams lost control of his tube and disappeared beneath the surface of the water.
An intensive search began as soon as Sheriff’s Office personnel could respond to the scene, but searchers have been unable to locate Adams’ body. The search was called off at dark and will resume at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning when Sheriff’s Office boats and personnel will be back on the river.
Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal commented, “It was with deep regret that we had to notify Mr. Adams’ parents of the tragic death of their son. We have assured them that we did all we could this afternoon and will spare no resources when we resume our search tomorrow morning. I ask everyone to join with me in prayer for this wonderful family as they grieve over the loss of their son.”
Seal continued, “Our officers, including divers, will be back on the river first thing tomorrow morning and the search will continue until the body of Mr. Adams has been recovered.”
