Sheriff's Office Extradites Sex Offender From Texas

In December 2014, Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office investigators were contacted by a female crime victim who reported a sexual assault that occurred on her as a child when she lived in Washington Parish.  She was under the age of twelve at the time of the sexual assault.  The investigation led to the discovery of a second victim who also claimed to have been sexually assaulted as a young child by the same man.  The man was identified as George William Stogner, 57.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Stogner was in jail in Angelina County, Texas, where he was being held on other sexual assault charges on a child in Texas.  Sheriff’s Office investigators talked with a Texas investigator who interviewed him.  During the Texas interview, Stogner denied the Texas allegations but admitted to sexual abuse of the minors in Washington Parish.

Warrants were obtained for Stogner and he was extradited to Louisiana and placed in the Washington Parish Jail where he is being held with bond set at $200,000.  He is charged with Aggravated Rape and Aggravated Incest.

During an interview with local investigators after he returned to Washington Parish, Stogner confessed to the two Washington Parish sexual assaults as well as the sexual assault in Texas.

The names of the victims, the location of the sexual assaults and other details are being withheld due to the ages of the victims at the time of the crimes.

Sheriff Randy Seal commented, “Words cannot express the emotions I feel when I learn that children have been sexually assaulted by an adult.  There is absolutely no rational explanation for such deviant behavior.  I am so pleased these victims came forward so that their allegations could be investigated and their predator can be brought to justice.  He is now in jail where he belongs.”

Sheriff Seal continued, “It is hard for law-abiding citizens to understand such deviant behavior, but it exists.  If anyone is aware of the sexual exploitation of any child, I encourage them to call our investigative division at (985) 661-2021 to report the crime so that we can investigate.  Our investigators do an excellent job investigating crimes against children and I congratulate them for their fine work in this case.”
