On October 27, detectives with the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force served a  search warrant at 30057 Red Penton Road in Franklinton.  Detectives conducted a lengthy investigation into alleged marijuana growing activities at the address and gained enough evidence to obtain a search warrant for the house and premises.

While at the house, detectives encountered three residents and placed them under arrest.  On the property, detectives discovered and seized 45 marijuana plants growing in patches in the rear and front of the house and growing under lights inside the house.  Detectives also seized 3.9 ounces of loose, dried, and ready-for-sale marijuana with a street value of $250 - $300.  Also recovered were scales, grinders and baggies, items which are used to prepare marijuana for illegal sales.

 Dewayne Allen Hyde, 37,  Marc Hansen, 45, and Emmitt Christopher Tarver, 36, were arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana Second Offense Felony and Illegal use of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in the Presence of a Juvenile.

 Hyde’s bond was set at $40,000.  He remains in the Washington Parish Jail.  Bonds for Hansen and Tarver were set at $15,000.  Each was released October 30 after meeting the conditions of his bond.

 Sheriff Randy Seal complimented the officers on a job well done.  “When will drug dealers learn that we are watching them?  If they grow it or sell it in Washington Parish, the Sheriff’s Office will be on their doorstep with handcuffs and transportation to jail.  I am so pleased with the good work of our Drug Task Force and I assure both our criminal element and our law abiding citizens that we will continue to be diligent in enforcing the law.”
