You Can Run, But You Can't Hide

The Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office took three fugitives into custody this week after searching for them for several weeks.

Jason J. Spikes, 29, Bogalusa, was arrested and placed in the Washington Parish Jail, charged with three counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder, Criminal Damage to Property, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession With Intent to Distribute Schedule II Drugs.  He remains in jail with bond set at $175,000.

On October 8, members of the Washington Parish Drug Task Force and detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division of the Sheriff’s Office, paired with federal Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents to arrest Spikes who was wanted in connection with an August shooting that occurred at the Sportsman’s Inn Motel south of Bogalusa.  Spikes was located hiding in a bedroom inside an apartment in at the Camelot Apartments north of Bogalusa.  He was arrested without incident.

Gregory S. Cambre and Monique Armand Cambre, both 49, and residents of Jenkins Road, have been sought since August 5.  They turned themselves in on October 8 and each remains in the Washington Parish Jail charged with one count of Distribution of Schedule III Drugs.  Bond for each has been set at $75,000.

The Cambres, husband and wife, knew they were wanted and had made several prior promises to turn themselves in.  Since early August, they have been reported to be traveling to and from St. John Parish.  Time, coupled with good investigative work, finally caught up with them.

Sheriff Randy Seal commented.  “These are good examples of the old saying, ‘You can run, but you can’t hide.’  Eventually, we will find you.  Although all three of these individuals have been classified as fugitives since August, we had not forgotten them.  Our officers continued to work leads until they were apprehended.  Criminals need to understand that time is on our side and we will eventually find them.”
