Acting on a complaint from a family member, and following a thorough investigation, the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Walter A. Johnson, 67, a Bogalusa resident, for aggravated rape of a minor.
Due to the age of the child and the nature of the crime, further details will not be released.
Johnson is being held in the Washington Parish charged with Aggravated Rape. Bond has been set at $300,000.
Participating in the investigation were Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Investigator Damon Mitchell, Washington Parish Deputy Demi Rice, Rayburn Correctional Center Major Thomas Mitchell and the Children’s Advocacy Center.
Sheriff Randy Seal commented on the investigation and arrest. “As a parent and grandparent, I am appalled at the thought of any adult committing sexual battery on a child. Our staff did an excellent job gathering evidence to make an arrest in this matter. I am so pleased with their hard work and the great working relationship we have with Rayburn Correctional Center and the Children’s Advocacy Center.”
